Retired company secretary John is the Chairman of BASC. John lives in Newport, Wales where he is the treasurer of four organisations and a director of Newport Live which controls sporting facilities including the National Velodrome. John loves watching athletics, particularly at the NIA and the Olympic Stadium. He enjoys great individual performances but also the buzz of so many events going on at the same time. He also enjoys a round of golf.
Jackie is BASC's subscriptions secretary and is involved in other admin tasks. Jackie, a former IT specialist, lives in Chelmsford and supports Southend United and Essex CCC. She is an ardent athletics fan, with very happy memories of Dean Macey's decathlon gold performance in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Jackle has been to most major championships since Sydney 2000, but she particularly enjoys the Gotzis weekend.
Jillian is responsible for the financial aspects of the Club as Treasurer. Jillian is a Chartered Accountant working in the West Midlands. Her earliest sporting memories are those of Munich Olympics with Marc Spitz, Mary Peters and Olga Korbut. Jillian particularly enjoys the indoor season and the European/world indoor championships both for the variety of event and the proximity of the action. Super Saturday at the Olympics 2012 however remains her best athletic memory.
Retired general manager Philip handles overseas liaison for the supporters club. Living in Sheffield, Philip enjoys theatre and chamber music concerts as well as live sport. He is involved in rugby union at Rotherham. Philip was a harrier at youth level, and now enjoys holidaying while taking in live athletics. His highlight was Rudisha's world record in the London 2012 final, followed by eight athletes with personal best performances. Philip is also involved with two charities and a credit union.
Retired accountant Chris is BASC's recruitment director. Chris fell in love with athletics watching the Rome Olympics on his family's newly acquired television. He ran for Devon at schoolboy level competing in the 800m and cross country. Chris really enjoys watching the major championships and his favourite highlight was the men's 800m at London 2012 where David Rudisha destroyed the field in a world record time. Chris lives in Camberley Surrey where he enjoys the occasional round of golf.
Richard comes from Market Harborough where he works part-time as financial controller for a small manufacturer having retired from his role as events manager at a major UK bank. Richard is responsible for BASC bursary awards and for organising the club's Annual Dinner weekend. He enjoys the competition of athletics, and is himself a road runner aiming to complete his 25th marathon and 100th half-marathon in the next couple of years. Richard is a keen photographer and wine connoisseur.
A talented middle distance youth runner, Marc's BASC role is to build relationships with International Bodies / Major Events, and assist with marketing. Marc works in sports sponsorship, recently spearheading sponsorship for Glasgow 2014. He is also involved in politics, standing in the 2015 General Election, and presents a sports show on hospital radio. Marc splits his time between Richmond and Glasgow, and still finds time for his Club, Thames Hare and Hounds. Marc is also Vice Chair London Youth Games.
