We're delighted that the new British Athletics Supporters Club website is now live! It's been a long time coming, but it is finally here. As well as adding more content and better functionality, the new site works much better on mobile devices, so you can stay up to speed when you are on the move. It may be more than two years away, but preparations are well underway for London 2017 – the historic hosting of both IAAF World Championships and the IPC Athletics World Championship. British Athletics Supporters Club are exploring how tickets might be made available for members to purchase through the club. The close relationship between BASC and British Athletics and our track record for the 2012 Olympics etc promises much so keep an eye out for news later in the year.
Ticket information is out now for the recently confirmed Sainsbury’s London Anniversary Games, (The London Diamond League) taking place on July 24-26 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park stadium, the modified home to the 2012 Olympic Games.
BASC has sent out emails to members about how they can order tickets through the club. Seats will be in prime locations for their price band, and will be guaranteed in contrast to the pre-registration tickets in the event of oversubscription. They are available to members before tickets go on sale to the public.
British Athletics Supporters Club members raised £1500 for the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund in a raffle at their 2014 Annual Dinner. These funds will help to support the next generation of athletics stars.
Ron Pickering is best remembered as the voice of athletics on BBC TV, not to mention iconic programmes such as Superstars and We Are The Champions. A former PE teacher, Ron became national athletics coach,
