The British Athletics Supporters Club annual dinner weekend has become a highlight of the year for members. The opportunity to meet socially, to mix with athletes - past and current - and others involved in this great sport.
The process of arranging each weekend starts straight after reviewing the previous event.
If you have not been to one of the Dinners in the past here are some things that members have said about the event:-
I really mean it when I say I had a lovely time…everything was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend.
I do not think that anyone who was lucky enough to attend the event, will ever forget it, it was very special.
We never fail to be amazed at how friendly and appreciative of our support that the guest athletes are.We are already looking forward to next year's dinner.
Having a chance to speak to the athletes was wonderful, they were all nice people and interesting to talk to. The people on my table were also fun to talk to. I enjoyed the panel discussions which made me more happy to be an athletics supporter.
Very many thanks for yet another great weekend. How do you manage to improve every year?
It was a great weekend and a chance to catch up with fellow members without the distraction of a track & field event going on at the same time.
The Dinner Weekend begins on the Friday night with an informal dinner with a guest speaker.
After breakfast on Saturday, members can choose to relax in our new 'Member's Lounge', or if they are feeling more active take part in the Coventry Parkrun. During the afternoon there are opportunities to listen to athletes and athletic officials and in the evening the Dinner enables members to dine with other members and to hear from a range of guests. Other activities may be planned earlier in the day - look out for details.
Sunday morning's breakfast is followed by a final panel session and members are free to continue to use the hotel’s facilities and to leave at their leisure.
The weekend can be as flexible as you want - members are welcome to attend just the Dinner, stay on Friday or Saturday only or to stay the whole weekend.
BASC Members can download a booking form from the Members Only Area of the website as and when they become available.
